The Australian bush is full of vibrant colour all year round. Gum blossoms are hard to capture because they are normally far above my head but occasionally I find some within reach.
They are unbelievably exquisite with their delicate stamens, yet hardy at the same time - like miniature fireworks. Watching a bud unfurl is a bit like the precious joy of witnessing a butterfly emerging from a chrysalis. All those tiny stamens neatly packed tightly inside the little nut burst out into beautiful explosion of colour and texture.
