The small Venetian island of Burano is known for it’s brightly coloured houses, of which there certainly are many.
I’ve made a separate collection of those images. However, some of the residents of the island have a milder taste in home decor and there is a more earthy side to Burano.
Here I’ve gathered together the rustic reds and browns of the island. Being mid winter when I visited, the most of the window shutters were closed and the canals deserted, giving a very mysterious air to the island.
Even the trusty Lion of Venice is found protecting the houses in Burano.
